A Bit About the Company

What kind of company is Neighbours? What do they do? Why do they spell their neighbors like that? Well, let me get into the details. Neighbors is a small startup set on creating an interactive online community for the local communities, found in African cultures, to connect. The idea is extremely  The founder, Femi Emmanuel had put a lot of hard work and resources into developing an app and website simultaneously. Which is why it broke my heart to hear of his problem.

GOALS

My goal was to check for functionality issues, & usability issues as well as account for the overall user experience.

Manual & Usability  Testing

As I walked through the site. I found several issues that need to be addressed. It started small, like spelling and grammatical errors

And gradually grew. I found multiple functionality issues identified in the structural framework of the site's flow.  As a designer, I recognized that many of these issues would drastically hinder the user's experience.

It would have been ideal for volunteer participants to test the site, but the CEO was adamant about improving any major errors before allowing people to test the site.

My initial plan was to make corrections to the prototype. Unfortunately, that was non-existent. This was the first time the owner was creating a website, and like many people, he started without a concrete prototype and expected the developers to understand his vision, without seeing it.

My solution was to take images from the site and leave detailed descriptions of what corrections the developers needed to make. I then would present the information to them, via Zoom. I would start from the major issues, and work my way down the list. I spent months making corrections.
